Can You Really Make Money on Medium?
The short answer is yes. Here’s how it’s going for me after four years.
Who doesn’t want to have a second income stream as a millennial (or frankly any generation)? Partial student loan forgiveness may help some of us, but it doesn’t mean we’re riding with a positive net worth. Income streams that don’t require formal offices or bosses are enticing. Thus, why many people are drawn to Medium as a platform. I, too, found this appealing at a time when I was underemployed and freelancing in New York City (the h̶a̶p̶p̶i̶e̶s̶t̶̶ ̶ err one of the most expensive cities in the states) back in 2018.
Since then, I’ve published 34 articles over four years (while working a myriad of other jobs and having my own YouTube channel — subscribe here ;)). And over these four years, I have made a little bit of money. So far in 2022, I’ve brought in a whopping $42.99 or about $4.77 per month with 196 followers to date.
That might beg the question: Is Medium worth it?
