  1. Do Somatic Exercises
    I didn’t know the meaning of somatic until I was nearly thirty years old. Somatic = “relating to the body.” Somatic exercises can include meditation, breathwork, trauma release exercises, yoga, massage, dance, etc. They are exercises that coordinate with the nervous system to release muscular tension and pain (chronic or otherwise), improve posture and movement, and trapped emotions in the body. I experienced a lot of anxiety and stress early in my life and having more healthy methods to release these stresses would have set me on a kinder early path.
  2. Eat Blueberries Often
    Blueberries are one of my favorite mood and brain-boosting foods that I wish I had eaten more of as a teenager. When I eat blueberries, I think more easily. I have better focus and happier feelings. I tend to write and create more easily. Blueberries contain fiber, potassium, folate, vitamin C, vitamin B6, and phytonutrient content (according to Medical News Today). According to Healthline, Blueberries can neutralize some of the free radicals that damage your DNA which may then help protect against aging and cancer. They can also protect against heart disease and help maintain brain function and improve memory. Sign me up for all of the above.
